Toni Morrison is a famous American black woman writer who won the Nobel prize for literature in 1993. It is a hot research topic in China and abroad. The study of Toni Morriso’s works is mainly focused on Beloved, Song of Solomon, The Bluest Eyes, while the research of Home and Jazz is not enough. In the perspective of research, the space in the novels had not given enough attention. The purpose of this paper is by choosing space theory as the theoretical basis, and analysis Toni Morrison’s city novels, as a result of it to expand the scope of the research on Toni Morrison’s novel, make her this type novel get enough attention, and in-depth understanding of the blacks in the city living and spiritual problems. After reading Toni Morrison’s novels, this paper focuses on the study of Toni Morrison’s three novels, Song of Solomon, Jazz and Home. These three books use a unique perspective of the American black people in the city of inequality in the survival and spiritual situation. After learning Lefebvre’s space theory and Soja’s ’third space’ theory, this paper is based in space theory, and use space narrative as the research method of Toni Morrison’s three city novel, and discusses the relationship between the cities and black people as a physical space, and analysis a series of urban landscape such as transportation, city streets, housing. Paper further analyzes the daily life, work and entertainment of blacks in the city, to show their attitude for the city spirit rule of obedience and rebellion in the novel, thus revealing the black community how to improve their survival and spiritual situation and reconstruction of the urban Utopia, and get the right of re-entered the city.To solve this problem, first of all, the blacks must obtain certain physical space, regardless of the road in the city, housing or other space of a city, blacks have to obtain the same space as white people to establish the black community. Second, pay attention to the black national culture, which requires not only the recognition and acceptance of the white people, but also the recognition of the black community on their own traditional culture. Finally, black people should establish a correct living space ideal. This kind of space should not be based on the narrow nationalism, but to establish the correct urban myth, the city as a place to achieve personal value, not just to make money. So when we talk about the rights of black people into the city. We are not just talk about ethnic equality, or black people have a status of freedom and equality with the white, but also use a way of space and find a suitable solution for blacks.
