Design And Analysis Of Master 's Degree Concert

As a master of vocal music performance majoring in Chinese folk singing, I held a graduation concert instead of writing a thesis to pass the graduation assessment, which is in accordance with the provisions in the latest version of Graduate Training Program of Minzu University of China. This is a new attempt which attaches greater importance to the assessment of practical ability of master students. Under the guidance of the principle of "linking theory with practice", students are supposed to apply the theoretical knowledge learned from class into practice through concert and thus have a periodical and comprehensive understanding of their professional abilities before graduation.Graduation concert is a best platform to improve personal abilities and accumulate performing experience. The whole process, including selecting songs, learning from supervisors, practicing by ourselves, and cooperating with the art director, will help students to solve many of the existing problems, to stimulate their potentials and raise the singing level through intensive practice, and to improve their stage experience and enrich their artistic culture. It will be a reflection of students’professional level, comprehensive ability of songs, and stage performance.This paper is divided into five chapters. The structure of this paper is as follows:Chapter I gives an introduction to the background, purposes and significance of concert.Chapter II introduces the content, composition and songs selection of the graduation concertChapter III gives an analysis of the graduation concert design. The songs in the concert include 5 types:folk songs, art songs, original songs, traditional Chinese operas and section of operas. This chapter systematically introduces the styles and features of each song, makes a detailed analysis of each song in terms of composition, lyrics, melody and singing methods, and finally presents my personal understanding and managing of each song. Overall, the principle of combination of simple ones and complicate ones is obeyed in the choice of songs. And the whole concert is an embodiment of various works, diverse styles, multi-layered songs, and cooperation of different forms.Chapter IV presents the scheduling of the graduation concerts. It makes a detailed list of the plan and arrangement of concerts by month.Chapter V discusses the possible problems and solutions in the graduation concert. A concert includes two stages:previous preparation and performing stage. This chapter explores the possible problems in a concert due to personal and external reasons and figure out the correspondent solutions.
