Abstract Form Language

Art forms are heterogeneous, for instance painting. From the cave painting of the Primitive Period, to realistic panting, abstract painting and etc. With expression techniques evolving, people paid more attention to how they could transmit their own consciousness through the form of painting. The abstract painting uses instinct and imagination as the starting points of creation. Abstract paintings combine shape and color to present a piece with profound content by using the observational nature subjectively. The pure shape and color that are presented by abstract painting not only are the constituent relations of color but could also trigger a further, in-depth, exploration of the author or even the spiritual level from the audience. Personally, I wish to comprehend and analyze the form of color language and its constituent relations at a deeper level by studying the artistic paintings of the most representative and influential figure of abstract expressionism, Hans Hoffman, and by comparing his works during different periods as well as contrasting them with those of other related artists.
