Xiang Xi Miao nationality decorative pattern is the important part in traditional culture of Miao nationality, which has distinctive culture connotation and aesthetic value. This paper discusses the design from the actual demand of blue calico of Jing Feng factory, collecting and arranging Xiang Xi Miao nationality decorative pattern. Using the field survey data and relevant theoretical basis is to design and refine the animal pattern and geometric pattern of Xiang Xi Miao nationality decorative patterns, which enrich the modern sense, ethos and regional characteristics of redesigned blue calico. The main work contents of this paper are as following:(1) Using literature method and Field survey method and collecting 516 Sample patterns. Combined with relevant theoretical knowledge to analyse the cause of formation, Modeling language structure, culture connotation and the status of Inheritance and development.(2) Using questionnaire method and observation method to make the market surveys for blue calico of Jing Feng factory, summarized that blue calico of Jing Feng factory were unable to adapt to modern consumer market. This paper puts forward main problems and finds out solutions.(3) This paper discusses the design from the actual demand of blue calico of Jing Feng factory. The design based on the concept of culture connotation and the interest of simple and plain. Using the design technique of direct quotation, decomposition and restructuring, abstract refining and exaggeration refining is to design and refine the animal pattern and geometric pattern of Xiang Xi Miao nationality decorative pattern.(4) Studying and using the manifestation of decorative pattern of excellent fabric design works and refining the patterns recombine in the products of blue calico of Jing Feng factory. The design is based on modern simplism style, fresh pastoral style and retro national style. The design works include hold pillow, table runner, coaster and painting.
