Jay ?Singer ? Parasade is one of the most important writers in the history of modern Hindi literature, is known as the founder of modern Hindi literature. Gangal was published in 1929, is the first novel of Parasade. Through Gangal, Parasade showed the hope of a better future for the Hindu community and exposed the reality of the festering Hindu society. Gangal through a series of tragic fate of the real portray characters, depicted the guilts, arbitrary and oppressive of Hindu society under the cover of religion, exposed the hypocrisy and ugly true face of the Hindu society hidden under the veil of religion. Meanwhile Parasade presents his thinking, understanding and exploration about the problems of society by his pen, tried to explore the ideal recipe based on the traditional culture and advocated to rescue the festering Hindu society by reformist way.Parasade is a progressive writer with a sense of social responsibility, it’s clear that Gangal not only presents Parasade’s love for oppressed people, but also shows a progressive writers’ s responsibility for society. however Parasade lived in the collision time of East-West cultural, the personal experience and the prevailing background has decided his progressive ideas were still deeply rooted cultural tradition bound, at the same time, the limitations of Parasad necessarily reflects the progressive jackpot of Indian society faced at that time.The paper from Parasade’s life experience and creative process to start, analysis the theme and practical significance reflected in Gangal, combined with the background, analysis Parasade’s progress and limitations in-depth, provide a theoretical basis for readers to more complete understand Parasade and his works.
