A Study On The Fengshui Faith In The South Of The Ming Dynasty

Fengshui belief is one of the most important beliefs of the Chinese people. Because of its unique environmental factors,Gannan region finally gave birth to China’s largest Fengshui schools-the terrain Fengshui. Fengshui belief deeply influenced the Gannan customs. This paper will study the scholars criticized,norms and guidance Gannan fengshui belief from the perspective of the Ming Dynasty government to promote the Confucian etiquette to the folks,Thus to study the relationship between "little tradition" and "great tradition" in Chinese culture.The main content of this paper is composed of three parts:First, analysis of the causes of the Gannan fengshui belief prevails in the Ming Dynasty.Humid climate and Surrounded by water and mountains have a great influence to the prevalence of Feng Shui in Gannan.With the migration of the north of the South,Feng Shui into the Gannan region,Combined with the traditional belief in ghosts and spirits,This provides a fertile soil for the development and the prevalence of the Fengshui belief.The Ming emperors worship of Fengshui and reuse of the geomancy Warlock is played a very important role.Secondly,elaborate the influence of fengshui belief in gannan region customs.Fengshui beliefs profoundly affect the construction of buildings for Gannan region,such as choose auspicious.Besides,Cultivation of Fengshui forest is also a major feature of the residence custom.In funeral customs,under the influence of Feng Shui belief,Gannan prevails the customs of "stop funeral", "move graveyard to another place" etc…The Fengshui belief also intensified the Gannan lawsuit.in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,It also led to the rise of Gannan region "made fengshui" activities.Finally, explore the scholars criticized,norms and guidance Gannan fengshui belief from the perspective of the Ming Dynasty government to promote the Confucian etiquette to the folks.Analysis of their effectiveness in transforming social traditions.
