Model worker is a special group in People’s Republic of Chinabecause of its double identity. On the one hand, they are ordinaryworkers; on the other hand, they are elites of the whole society whichput the national will and the social forces together. Just as MaoZedong said, the model workers “are the model of the whole nation,are the backbones to promote all the aspects of the country, are thereliable pillar of the government, and are the bridge between thegovernment and the masses.” This essay focuses on one of the modelworkers—Li Shunda.And reviews his whole life to explore the process of how thisunderlying worker grew up to be a famous model. Then it willanalysis the deep reason behind this transformation, thus making theimplementation and the influence of the policies prominent. It willalso show us the individuals’ responses and how were the farmers’values been reflected at the nation level.The essay includes three parts: the introduction, the main textand the epilogue.The introduction part is about the study object and thesignificance of this topic. It also gives a brief introduction about thecurrent studies and achievements, both in China and broad. After thatwould be the key points and the difficulties in this essay.The main text includes three chapters:Chapter1, primarily introduces the “road of the liberatedfarmer”—how did a bankrupt farmer transformed to the delegate ofthe Shansi-Hopei-Shantung-Honan Border Region’s farmers. Chapter2, further describes the exemplary function of LiShunda after the New China was founded.Chapter3, briefly summarized the twists of his old age duringthe period of the “Emulating Dazhai on Agriculture” Campaign、Cultural Revolution and Rehabilitations.The epilogue reviews whole passage and evaluates Li Shundaobjectively, combined with the interview of his relatives and thevillagers in Xigou. |
