A Study On The Case Work Of Disabled Persons From The Perspective Of Social Disability

This paper is from social disability perspective, and based on describing the service process of six cases, and analysis of the reasons of difficulty the disabled faced is society lead or individual lead, and explores the case work service process to meet the need of the disabled from social disability perspective. And through summarizing the effect of case service to reflect the advantages and disadvantages of the case work from the social disability perspective then give some possible suggestions based that. The paper adopts qualitative research method, through the observation of the whole service process and the reflection of mine, the author summarized the case work service process as individual-peer-family service model. Namely, during need-assessment, combine the disability experience with personality characteristics, and pay attention to client’s informal support networks like the family and their peer network, and their community social welfare support. In the process of intervention, we should stress the importance of discussing with the clients about the goals and plans, through cognitive reconstruction to develop the positive beliefs. On the other hand, through social skills training to promote their personal ability, and through the repair of family function to develop and consolidate informal support networks. It is based on the linkage of all resources to meet the need of clients.At the end, the author argues that the social disability perspective is an important basis theory for case work and super to the medical disability perspective. However, it is the individual disability perspective in the main position when talked about disability and the disabled, the formation of social disability perspective also is still a long way to go. On the other hand, Because of the limitations of case work to meet the macro needs of the clients, the author argues that, according to social disability perspective, the integration of social work which by using a variety of techniques and offering intervention services in multiple aspects will be the direction of disabled social work in the future.
