The United States of America is the only super power in the world, far ahead of othercountries in the areas including foreign relations, economy, military power, scienceand technology, talent, education and culture etc. Its national interests cover all overthe world. Since its founding230years ago especial beginning of20thcentury, alongwith rising of its national power, the US accordingly strengthened its founding ofmissions abroad and management of diplomats. Currently, according to statistics fromthe Department of State, there are more270missions and over15thousand foreignservice officers abroad, working for national interests and legal rights of US citizens.They play a key role in implementing foreign policy and enhancing relations andfriendship with other countries. The management and administration of US diplomaticcorps need proper and efficient regulations and institutions. The thesis focuses on thedeveloping process and current institutions of US foreign service power, which mightprovides useful information to the management of Chinese foreign service power.
