In19th and20th century, the Asian countries that have a splendid civilization became the colonies of Western powers except China, Japan and Thailand which successfully remained independent in the colonial tide. Especially Thailand, as a small country with minor territorial area and weaker national strength, how can Thailand keep independent among Western colonial aggression? We think the key was the excellent diplomatic skills of the Rama Ⅴ.This study tries to discuss the balanced diplomacy history of the Rama Ⅴ from the viewpoint of International Relationship, and that is how Rama ⅴ drew the experience of Na Li Xuan King, Wang Tan song, Na Lai King in A Yu Tuo Danesty Period and the Rama Ⅲ and Rama Ⅳ in early Bangkok Dynasty. Further, This study tries to discuss the practice of Rama Ⅴ’s balance diplomacy, that is how did he get out of the fractious diplomatic situation. And how did he defend the national core interests and security through balance diplomacy among Western colonial powers. Finally, this study will discuss the positive significance and limitations. Thus it can be seen, Rama Ⅴ’s balance diplomacy is the epitome Na Li Xuan King, Wang Tan song Na Lai King, the Rama Ⅲ and Rama Ⅳ. It has positive impact on maintaining the independence of Thailand. At the same time, there lacks of national strength so that there is congenitally deficient to support foreign.Through studying the Rama Ⅴ’s balance diplomacy, this study is to enrich and develop the theory of relative of international relations of Hans.Morgenthou that big countries is the object of the study of balance of powers. And it reveals the practice content of the competitive balance diplomacy. Meanwhile, discussing the balance of powers of Thailand can enhance us to recognize the balance of powers history of Thailand and Southeast Asian countries from the viewpoint of International Relationship. So we can make appropriate and practical choice in diplomatic policy. |
