In the recent years, due to the acceleration of the ocean's development and utilization, the research of underwater acoustic voice communication has caused people's more attention. Compared with the radio communication, sound wave is the only effective carrier for long distance underwater communication, and underwater acoustic channel has an ultra-condensed narrow communication bandwidth, time-varying, air-varying and other complex characteristics, so choosing an effective method of voice communication has become one focus of the study. At the earliest, single-sideband (SSB) communication is one of the communication means used in the field of underwater acoustic communication, until now it has developed into a more sophisticated communication technology. Single-sideband communication with a high bandwidth utilization rate, saving transmission power, subject to little impact on channel conditions, etc., has become one of the widely used modes of communication.In this paper, the content of the research is based on the traditional analog single-sideband voice communication system, using the digital method to achieve single-sideband voice communication. Compared to the analog single-sideband voice communications system, the digital single-sideband voice communication system is more portable and easier to debug, while in the algorithm processing, has more advantages that the analog method can't achieve. According to the specific algorithm and the practical application, this article mainly discusses the following aspects:1,Theoretical Aspect: Analyzing variety of single-sideband modulation methods, to find a suitable modulation method, analysis of the key technology of the method which we used, and establish theoretical model. Meanwhile, giving a brief introduction of anti-noise characteristics of the single-sideband receiver.2,The Hardware: The system's hardware design and demonstration, using DSP+FPGA architecture. Mainly include the algorithm processing platform which is relied on DSP, the control platform which is relied on FPGA, as well as the signal conditioning part, mainly introduce the interface circuit design between modules.3,The Software: From real-time data transmission and processing point of view, mainly discussing the method of data transmission and the implementation of digital Weaver single-sideband modulation and demodulation algorithms for using C language, each module will also be introduced to achieve the realization of methods and processes.4,Simulation and Test: The simulation of modulation and demodulation algorithms used in the system. Verify the system's performance by testing, identify the deficiencies and propose appropriate solutions, finally present the papers'further work.
