With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) application scope is getting broader and broader. As the standards of WLAN have been implemented, wireless local area network antennas suitable for each kind of standards should be developed. Based on the request of wireless local area network IEEE802.11g standard, a new dual-frequency printed antenna structure is simulated and designed, and the antenna structure use the simulation software to optimize the antenna design. According to the optimization design result, an antenna sample is manufactured, the sample is also measured. The results indicate that the test results are in concordance with the simulation result. This printed antenna's resonance frequency respectively is 2.45GHz and 5.5GHz, the relative bandwidth respectively achieves 12.5% and 30%, which meets the requirements of wireless local area network IEEE802.11g standard.This thesis includes five parts. First, the paper introduces the basic concept of wireless local area network, the development of printed antennas and dual-frequency antenna, and three-dimensional simulation software used.And then, the basic theory of antennas is introduced in detail, which includes basic electrical parameters, excitation of antennas, etc. Then introduced the differences between the microstrip antenna and printed antennas.The third part introduces the dual-frequency antenna, mainly about the method of the dual-frequency realization, then presents several specific examples of the dual-frequency realization.Then, on the foundation of first two parts, a dual-frequency printed antenna for WLAN system has been simulated, designed and produced. The test result is basically compatible with the simulation result, which meets the performance requirement of WLAN system.Finally, the paper sums up all the work, and puts forward the prospect of the further study.
