With the development of wireless networks, the traditional wireless access manner which was based on fixed access point couldn't meet the needs of high-capacity, high-speed, strong robustness of the wireless communications. The emergency of wireless mesh networks has become one of the possible options to solve these problems. It can use the short distance multi-hop style to establish link by mesh equipment. This mechanism can not only improve the link ratio among mesh equipments, but also extends the transmission range. The multi-channel and multi-ratio communication style used in wireless mesh networks can increase the capacity of the network and reduce the interference among links.Nowadays, more and more researchers focus on the energy consumed in wireless mesh networks, but most of them only study the mesh router protocol, channel allocation and QoS. The mesh router placement and wireless network resources allocation have a significant impact on network performance. So, in this paper we will study the mesh router placement and network resource allocation. The main contributions included in this dissertation are:(1) A new method was presented to indicate the candidate sites which can be used to decrease the problems during the random and fixed uniform deployment.(2) In the single channel environment, we use the optimization theory to model the problem of wireless mesh network deployment as a multi-object programming. Using the new candidates, this model selects some of these candidates to deploy mesh router. Based on the multi-object programming, some steps and algorithms of mesh router deployment were presented.(3) We extend the multi-object program in multi-channel and multi-radio environments to fit the actually application.(4) A channel allocation plan was presented to promote the utility of channel and a linear programming method was presented to solve the problem of wireless resources allocation.
