With the needs of modern warfare, military data link will develop in the direction of large capacity, high bandwidth and high reliability. This puts forward higher requirements to the existing data link. And some of the traditional data link transmission systems can't meet this requirement yet.This thesis firstly reviewed some key technologies of the existing data link transmission systems. And then introduced the transmission and processing process of link-16 data link system in details. In order to enhance the ability of data transmission, error detection and correction further, and to improve the system spectral efficiency greatly, based on link-16 data link and combined with concatenated coding, trellis-coded modulation, multiple-modulation and symmetric or asymmetric mapping technologies, this thesis designed a new data link transmission system which concatenated RS coding and 4-state rate 2/3 8-PSK trellis-coding. And in order to enhance the ability of the system to adapt to the environments, this thesis put forward to use 8-PSK symmetrical mapping in AWGN channel and use 8-PSK asymmetric mapping in Rayleigh channel. Correspondly, the thesis designed new message formats, slot structure and data package formats. Through theoretical analysis and MATLAB simulation, it proved this design can get higher data transmission rate and acceptable bit error rate.
