This paper probes into the key technologies and relevant theories of the stereoscopic display of the three-dimensional medical model, and analyzes the realization of the monitor display from the existing three-dimensional model. The stereoscopic display of the three-dimensional medical model is the multi-disciplinary research subject based on the computer graphics, image processing and medical engineering, which currently has become the hot point of inter-disciplinary research. The stereoscopic display of the medical model is of importance in the medical domain, which enables the doctors to observe the spatial structures of the human organs and their relative position visually so as to obtain more precise information of the lesions. Meanwhile it also plays an important role in various fields such as the surgical navigation, the surgery simulation and the anatomy. Consequently, the stereoscopic display of the medical model is the research of academic value as well as of the great relevance to application.This paper presents the realization of the visualization of the medical model based on the principle of the binocular stereo vision, the contents of which are listed as follows:1. The stereo image pairs of the cardiac model is obtained with the assistance of 3DS MAX based on the concept of the parallax of binocular stereo vision. During the process, the target camera of 3DS MAX is used to simulate the filming of the three-dimensional cardiac model to get the stereo image pairs.2. The stereo matching algorithm is presented based on string-like growth pattern. Firstly, the margin of error of the mapping control point is calculated when it is located; then, the approximal point of the mapping control point is positioned with the assistance of comparison of the margin of error and the given threshold value and then it is extended in accordance with the string-like growth pattern until all matching points are located.3. In this paper, we have developed the prototype system of stereoscopic display of medical imaging under VC++6.0, which could realize the functions of image reading, image conversion, production of red-green image and production of polarized 3D image.In conclusion, we summarized the main points of the research and proposed some existing problems we are faced with to point out further research orientations.This thesis is supported by grant No.60873095 from the National Natural Science Fund Project "An orthognathic surgical planning and simulation based on 3D statistical deformation and finite element hybrid model".
