Along with the rapid development of the computer technology and the network information resources, the distributed technology is now widely used in the large application system. Due to many advantages and specialties of the Agent technology in dealing with the distributed process and interactions, it has beca e the popular research area in the field of distributed system and artificial intelligence.This paper studies Agent, multi-agent system technology theory and architecture, and then applies it to the development of power quality intelligent information systems. On-line continuously monitoring of power qulity data is large, calculating is complexity, in addition to facing the problem of multiple data sources, but also processing some problems such as data exception, missing, and timely warning of power quality events, that demand the data collection and calculation software have the capability of adapting to complex environment and self-adjusting easily. For the technical difficulties of data acquisition and calculation in power quality intelligent information system, the idea of multi-agent system structure is represented, then analysis and design modeling for power quality power quality intelligent information system based on Agent technology is conducted, including physical structure design, logical structure design, Agent design, entity class modeling and database design.The system development platform is based on Eclipse and the the Object-Oriented language Java. The development framework of the Agent system—JADE is also used to achieve the distributed interaction, which significantly simplifies the development of multi-agent system. This paper highlights the realization of computing functions and interactive functions among Agents, the rationality and feasibility of the Agent technology are demonstrated.The adoption of multi-agent technology can solve the data acquisition and computing problems in power quality intelligent system, it enables the system have better robustness, flexibility, stability and scalability.
