The image we obtained in bad weather conditions is often significantly degraded by mist. This significantly affects military affairs, traffic systems, remote sensing and other fields of image processing in this weather. We need some method of image processing in order to eliminating the impact of fog on the image, and acquire details of the scene information from image degraded by mist.This paper studies on the image clearness technique in mist, this analyzes the causes of image degradation and characteristic of degraded image. This paper researches clearness method by image restoration and image enhancement. In the image restoration, this paper analyzes image of mist degradation model, and uses restoration method of radiative transfer equation. Image enhanced takes no account of the reason of the degeneration and only according to the specific need extrude or restrain some information of the image, it achieve the purpose of enhancing useful information. Histogram equalization, homomorphic filtering, local histogram equalization are used in this paper, we analyze the scope of application of each algorithm, on this basis, this paper studies local HE algorithm of part of overlap, there are greatly improved in the computing speed, and it achieves good processing effect of clearness.
