Ad hoc network composed of a number of mobile terminals is a kind of multi-hop, temporary and non-centers network which rely on wireless transmitters and receivers. Each mobile terminal could be host and router; they send and receive information according to the routing algorithm among the various mobile terminals. Ad hoc network topology changes so rapidly that the traditional routing protocols can not meet their needs, therefore, Ad hoc network routing protocols become a hot research field. As the Ad hoc network has the mobility, dynamic topologies, bandwidth-constrained and power constraints and other characteristics, on-demand-driven routing can adapt to the needs. Only when sending data packet we start the process of route discovery and route maintenance, which save a lot of unnecessary network overhead. But its'slow to response to the changes in network topology. In the information transmission process of on-demand routing protocols, the network will produce the load imbalance reducing network utilization rate. A network load settlement mechanism was proposed after the study of AODV routing protocol. By increasing the measure of routing protocols, the lighter loading path was chose as the transmission of information to achieve optimization of the network in the improved AODV routing protocol. Simulations results show that the improved AODV routing protocol have shown significant performance improvements in the average end to end delay packet transmission rate and routing overhead.
