The technology of display develops rapidly in recent years, from CRT to TFT-LCD, PDP and projector. Among these display products, TFT is now the most popular one which has the brightest future. The main suppliers of TFT panel are Samsung, LG-Philips, Auo and Chimei in the world and SVA, BOE and IVO in China. In order to outshine others in numerous competition brands, you must deliver the quality product at lowest cost. This thesis will study the existing repair methods for different defects first and then research new methods to reduce the scrap.Light point is a normal functional defect of LCD-panel. About 70% of these defects can be rescued by laser wielding and the rest will be degraded. With the new cosmetic repair method, 90% of light point products can be rescued.The diffuse light point of the cell can not be repaired in the past. This thesis offers a new repair method for this defect by pressuring it outside. It changed the status that this defect can not be repaired and about 45% of defective products can be rescued.Line defects are serious functional defects for LCD panel. If the defective products can not be repaired successfuly, they will be scrapped. About 85% of the vertical line defects can be rescued by using traditional repair method. With the new method which positions the defect by using the Probe machine, 92% of the defects can be rescued. For horizontal line defects, only 40% of them can be rescued by using traditional repair method. But with the repair methods given by this thesis, 65% of these products can be rescued.
