Develop game systems in the embedded environment is one of the hot topics in recent years. From tradition amusement place to handy-phone terminal and PSP (PlayStaion Portable), more and more game-systems based on embedded environment have spring up. Besides the game engine and materials, the limits of embedded hardware's performance, User Interface's expressive ability and computing capability of embedded CPU will be the hamper to develop embedded game system in this way. So, it is meaningful to cut out the games used to play on the Personal Computer, and optimize the game and transplant it to the embedded environment.In this paper, TQ2440 will be the embedded hardware platform, which within a Samsuang 2440 ARM9 CPU. Base on the platform, it develops an embedded arcade game system. The key research points contain as follow: 1. Implement and transplant the SD card device driver to ensure the capacity. 2. Cut out and transplant the operating system according to the requirement of TQ2440 platform. 3. Use the QT as the graphic library to develop the arcade game system's user interface and process logic, so that it can manager the arcade games within a set of fuctions. 4. Make MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) the emulator to play arcade games. Based on the MAME source code, optimize the performance of MAME combine with SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer) library. Finally, take functional tests performance tests and for 150 arcade games; and more than ninety-six percents of games can run affluently with higher than 23 frames per second. The test result of aracde game system show that, it is a great and feasible way to develop embedded game system by transplanting the PC game to the embedded platform.
