With the rapid development of the missile technology, there is an increasing demand for the fuse antennas, especially the low side-lobe and ultra low side-lobe antennas. Waveguide slots antennas have been widely used in designing fuse antennas because of the obvious advantage of convenient control over aperture distribution, which could satisfy the property of low side-lobe. The long slot leaky-wave waveguide antennas have been given more attention because of the higher efficiency, easy to fabricate and wide-band property.In this paper, we first recommend the general information about the long slot waveguide antenna, introduce the fuse antenna technical specifications, discuss the problems and solutions in the antenna design, and a X-band long slot waveguide antenna has been promoted. Aperture distribution of this long slot have been testified.Then, in the view of the long slot waveguide antenna theory, more details about the design steps are discussed (as follows):(1) The design theory of the long slot leaky-wave waveguide antenna(2) The simulation of the unit of slot array(3) Analysis and optimize the simulation results(4) Optimize the isolation between two adjacent antennasFinally, the author sum up all the work that have been done in this design and propose the problems in design process and how to solve them. We manufacture the experimental sample model, at the same time, the sample antenna is tested. The results indicate the characteristic of the antenna caters to the application requirement of the project.
