Reconfigurable antennas technology is a kind of new antennas technology. A reconfigurable antenna can replace a few antennas at a platform. Reconfigurable antennas can reduce costs, space and weight of antenna system. Microstrip antennas own many advantages, such as thin profile, small volume, light weight and easy coplanar and so on. Advantages of RF-MEMS switches are higher isolates degree, higher reliability, lower insertion loss and power consumption etc. In view of these reasons, the reconfigurable microstrip patch antenna is designed which is based on the RF-MEMS switch in this paper. The main work includes the following.First, according to the principle of RF-MEMS switches, a static driving and cantilever beam switch is designed. The structure of switch is improved. The model of the switch is built and simulated by the HFSS software. The range of insertion loss is between 0.0000 and -0.0025dB. The extent of the isolation is from-97.24 to-54.13dB. The scope of the frequency in the simulation is from 0 to 100GHz. The theoretical results match with the requirement of the design well.Second, an innovative reconfigurable microstrip patch antenna is designed which is based on the cavity model theory. The RF-MEMS switch is connected with two metallic patches. The topology structure is changed and the reconfigurable antenna is gat. The method of placing two parasitic patches on two sides of the patch antenna can broaden the bandwidth. the method is good for the antenna property. The building model and simulation of the reconfigurable antenna are gat by the HFSS software. The simulation results indicate that the two resonance frequencies are 12.50GHz and 20.10GHz respectively. The absolute bandwidth are 0.24GHz and 1.55GHz respectively. the feasibility of the reconfigurable antenna is proved by The simulation results.
