Hospital is an integral part of people's lives, accelerating the pace of hospital information is not only the hospital's own development problems, but also brings convenience for patients. Today, hospital information system (HIS) is commonly used in Chinese large and medium sized hospitals for hospital management and medical management. Geographic Information System (GIS), which is based on spatial data, can be rich geographic expression, provides data management and processing, spatial analysis and mapping. GIS have been developing rapidly and used in many fields in recent years. One of the long-term development characteristics of GIS is integrated into every aspect of life.Hospital and patients are both spatial entity in some ways. Hospital has spatial information, buildings, devices, wards, beds, staff of hospital and patients are have location information and association, therefore, GIS could service in hospital management and help us to find the best route, study the distribution of disease, manage beds, devices, and GIS also can be used in departments planning; what GIS can do for hospital should improve the efficiency of hospital management and patients'medical experience, and provide decision support for leadership.The main research work of this article is as follows:1. From the perspective of hospital business process and users' need, combined with the features of geographic information systems, described the requirement analysis of Hospital Management Information System.2. Designed the overall structure of the system, the network structure, function structure; for each subsystem, particularly in the bed management, treatment and pathogenic analysis on three areas, carried out a detailed functional design.3. Comply with the steps of database development, designed and build ArcSDE geodatabase based on geodatabase model and SQL Server 2005.4. In Visual Studio 2008 environment, used C sharp language and ArcGIS Engine 9.3 package to develop prototype system, mainly realized the main functions of bed management module, emergency treatment subsystem and the main functions of the pathogenic analysis module.5. Prototype development of the system, main bed management module, main features of emergency processing subsystem and pathogenic analysis module.
