| Since the 1980s, accompanying with the popularity of television and other mass media in urban family of China, the lifestyle of urban children has been deeply changed. Using and enjoying information and entertainments that mass media bring to us becoming an important part of urban children's life. After 1990s, TV, newspapers and magazines has been largely developed, and since the new century, internet and other new media has also been quickly come into the life of children's perspective, And in the area of educational sociology, mass media has been considered as one of the four holders which influent the socialization of children. A variety of mass media are working with information which it delivers to building the important external environment in which the urban primary school students live, and shaping the growth of the young generation subtly.In the background of living in media context, as important builders and successors of the future Chinese society, whether children can become active and critical participants concerns both the socialization of themselves and the future of our nation. Incompatible with the harsh reality is, media literacy of primary school students still did not get enough attention to domestic researchers. Different from many foreign countries which began media literacy education from children, the study of media literacy in our nation has been always aimed on university students. For primary school students, who are more concerns needed, there is few fruit. What are the problems in urban primary school students'media literacy? How to cultivate and improve media literacy levels of this group? Series of questions need answers urgently from both the theory and practice.For above research status, the thesis conduct an empirical Investigation, through a survey on thousands primary school students in Jinan city to study the media literacy levels of urban pupils and the media environment in which they live. On this basis, analyze the factors which effect urban primary school students'media literacy by correlation analysis and regression analysis, and at last, proposed strategies to improve the media literacy levels of urban primary school students from school, family and society three perspectives.The thesis is divided into five parts, chapter one is Introduction, introduces the research background, significance and research status, and sorts out many concepts about media literacy. Chapter two is Survey and Analysis of Urban Primary School Students'Media Literacy, describes the current status of urban primary school students'media literacy by empirical research and quantitative research, and then using statistical methods such as regression analysis to analyze family and social factors which affect their media literacy. Chapter three is Reflections on Media Literacy Status of Urban Primary School Students, summarizes the problems in primary school students'media literacy status, and finds reasons which result these problems. Chapter four is Elevation Strategy of Primary School Students to Improve Their Media Literacy, Propose strategies from family, school, society three perspectives to improve urban primary students'media literacy on the basis of the .research. Chapter five is Summary, reviews the academic achievements of the thesis, point out the deficiencies of this study and the future research directions.The domestic studies on media literacy has just raised their curtain, a lot of research still stay in a pure theoretical level, which is far from deep into the social practice. Looking for feasible approaches which are suitable for China to improve their media literacy education is critical. I hope the thesis can provides some ideas to solve the problem, and push the media literacy education study into a higher level. |
