Radar has an important effect in the ship navigation and VTS system. With data extraction, signal processing and information display, radar monitors the voyage state of ships or leads ships to put in and out of the port and ensures the safety of the watercrafts which navigate in the fog or at night. Marine Radar provides high cost performance means of collection of transport information for the mange of ship transport. In stead of appropriative Traffic Management Radar, Marine Radar can highly reduce the number of investment to obtain higher benefit.The image interface of normal Marine Radar with CRT monitor is VGA. The output of the interface is analog Radar image. Using a VGA separator, the Radar image on the monitor can be separately showed on the monitor which can be observed by the captain in the cusp of the bridge or in the office of the captain. The resolution of the VGA image is not good, in addition, the Radar image is inevitably disturbed in transporting, making the image distortion. But the use of the Radar with DVI interface make the Radar image processing digital and avoid the distortion of the image in transporting. The digital image extracted from radar system can be transmitted to all the display and control terminals without conversion. It highly improves the speed and precision of image processing. This paper studies on the Radar image processing and transmitting based on DVI interface, in order to make full use of the resources in VTS and expand the system functions.First of all, this paper designs a general scheme and analyses the function of the system and the realization of each module. Second, based on a piece of radar image, the paper discusses the theories of five modules in detail, which are the grab of radar image, the extraction of radar echo, the median processing, the vector processing, the coding, the transmitting and the visualization control of radar. In addition, the paper also talks about five modules are carried out with Visual C++. Third, according to the design flow of the system, every module are combined to be a full system, which can process a radar image from the grab of the radar image to the sending. At last, the paper tells the double thread, which is used in the real-time radar image grab and processing.
