Recent years, with the development of science and technology, access control system is becoming an important part of our work and life. The reader and the access controller are the most important part of access control system. In this paper, a new access control system is designed, and the design and realization of the reader and access controller are elaborated.Now the access control systems on the market are mostly designed based on the concept of SCM. This kind of access control system has simple structure and function, low efficiency and small storage capacity. Meanwhile we want the access control system provide more feature according to our need. Taking into account that ARM has high efficiency, rich interface, and good support for many operating system, this article design a scalable and adaptable access control system based on ARM and Linux. This system use the RFID radio frequency identification technology, and implement the wiegand protocol.At first, the dissertation describes the concepts of radio frequency identification and the development process of embedded system, especially the method of development of Linux device driver. Second, it designs the device driver of nRF24L01 and wiegand protocol. Then the video monitor function is joined into this system. At last, finish the debug and test.
