| President Hu Jintao made the demand of harmonizing the development of athletic sports and mass sports and pushing our country to march toward sports power on September 29th,2009. This shows that the development of mass sports becomes one core task of China's post Olympic sports cause. However, relevant statistics indicate that China's sports population is still at the medium level and China's mass sports are underdeveloped. The situation is caused by many reasons and the inadequate reporting of mass media on mass sports is one of them. The article analyzes the criteria of news selection of mass sports news and the interaction between television sports reporting and the development of mass sports with reference to the theory of news selection and sports news. Meanwhile, the article studies and analyzes CCTV-5's news selection and news value of mass sports news based on CCTV-5's post Olympic mass sports reporting.News selection is one of the essential elements of mass communication. With the increase of people's living conditions, their demands for keeping fit their are raised, the news selection of mass sports news becomes more significance because mass sports news has big viewing demand potentials for its close connection with common people and also because mass sports report can facilitate the formation of people's sports concept as well as sports awareness and guide people's living style. As the biggest specialized TV media, the role of CCTV-5's mass sports report in influencing people's sports participation and pushing the development of mass sports can not be ignored. The article analyzes the importance of mass sports and the interaction between TV sports report and the development of mass sports, analyzes and evaluates the content selection, angle selection and language selection of CCTV-5's post Olympic mass sports report by using the relevant theories of news selection.Based on the above mentioned analysis and evaluation, the following conclusions are reached:firstly, CCTV-5 pays the same attention to mass sports report and athletic sports report after the Beijing Olympic Games and thus making relevant changes in several aspects. Secondly, in order to realize the news value of mass sports report to the maximum extent, journalists and editors of CCTV-5 have been making great efforts in the selection of report content, report angle as well as report language of mass sports report. However, there still exist some shortcomings in the varieties of contents as well as in the depth and knowledge dissemination of the reports. Lastly, the mass sports report of CCTV-5 is at the state of growing and it will experience a process of gradual perfection and after it forms its own law of reporting, it will function better in guiding public opinion. |
