In recent years, the rapid development of network, enriching the people's life, and People's dependence on the network are strongger.When Internet bring in people's convenient, it also has its drawbacks, Kinds of network application software widely are used, for example, Camfrog Video Chat,web TV,BT download,videophone,EasyMule,Thunder so on, These applications gobble up the network bandwidth, cause congestion,making the network malfunction,so that the campus network can not run normally.It is necessaryly to monitor the campus network's flow,to monitor the campus network's operation state real-time.the users were calssified in this system:undergraduate,postgraduate,teacher and other staff.Monitor one of the physica equipment of the campus network, statistics the upward flowand the downward flow of the port at one time.First of all, this article study the network traffic monitoring, recommend the research status from domestic and abroad,discussed some network'basic concepts,and the aim to monitor the network flow.introduce two network flow's mesure methods:Active Measurement and passive measurement。Analyzed the network flow measurement techniques。Described several methods of the network motitoring in detail.all these are important to the next system'design.Secondly,the article discussed the layererd structure of the TCP/IP protocol.the main protocol's type and these packet'format,because analysised the packet'type is to ananlysis the packet's protocol type,in order to statistics the packet's type.Thirdly,the article introduces Winpcap, Mainly introduces the network driver interface standard BPF NDIS and packet filter,the WinpCap's main function. WinpCap as a Windows based operating system's open software, via passive monitoring mode finally realize network packet capture, statistical analysis function.display the results as images in control terminals.Finally, the article achieved the module of the campus network flow monitoring system. WinpCap was used to catch the packets,VC++ is the developed tool,realized to capture the packets,obtain MAC address by VC++, Eventually,diaplay the flow traffic at one monment by the way with image. This system makes the network monitoring flow come true.The network flow monitoring technology and database technology were used in this system,through the Visual studio development tool to make the campus network one time a port packets of capture come true, finally show network administrators the monitoring system as images.
