Wireless and mobile network technology have been developed rapidly in recent years. The emerging wireless communication system provides the user with heterogeneous network environment which including Bluetooth, WLAN, WiMAX, the public mobile telecommunication network (such as 2G, 3G), satellite network, Ad hoc network and wireless sensor network, etc. These various existed and emerging wireless technologies will co-exist in a certain period. In order to provide high quality service to users from anywhere at anytime, it needs to make up the difference in characteristics between various networks through their fusion and communication. Vertical handoff is the key technology for the fusion of heterogeneous wireless network. The network selection algorithm belongs to handoff decision part. It receives the data collected in the system discovery phase and selects the best network through decision computation for the preparation of handoff execution phase. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, a typical and complex heterogeneous wireless network which contains Wi-Fi and WiMAX network is adopted to research the Network Selection algorithm.Secondly, bargaining game is introduced. The network and mobile nodes are set as bargaining parties. By solving the game based on improved bargaining game model, it will realize the selection of target network.Thirdly, the algorithm is validated through simulation experiments. The experiments show that the algorithm can achieve the selection of target network. At the same time, it can maximize the payoff of mobile nodes and achieve the network load balance.
