Wind was considered as a random disturbance in previous research about ship movement control and ship operation. WDS sailing booster ship treats the force against sails by wind as a auxiliary driving force, making full use of the huge,pollution-free, infinite renewable resource,achieving the purpose of green, environmental protection, energy saving.How to keep sails stay at an optimized upwind angle consistently to realize maximum pro-force and minimum transverse force is critical to sailing booster ship. To realize it, research of aerodynamic characteristics of sails is required and then a complete sails control system is needed to be designed to control the movement of sails.In this paper,a new wing profile sails is chosen as an auxiliary booster device of sailing booster ship based on the research of development of sails technique, the structure properties of wing-profile sails is analyzed and the confirmation of optimized operation curves of sails is stated. And a target ship with wing auxiliary booster device is made to analyze air dynamic properties of wing detailed by experiment "wind tunnel" under condition of laboratory, during which simulation modem of wing is established to get values of maximum pro-force produced by wing and values of respective transverse force and sails rotation angle when wind direction is random and wind speed, course, ship speed are given. According to experiments above and research of wing control system strategy wing control system modem is established and the relationship between sensor slope angle change and the measurement errors of wind speed and direction is analyzed to get a fitting curve of errors and angles, thus, compensation algorithm of measurement errors is promoted and its effectiveness and credibility are testified.Design of structure of wing movement control unit and its hardware circuit and software flow are done then,together with the design of sails transmission, realizing the control of wing motion.The paper lays a foundation for WDS ships to develop, design, manufacture, and actual ship experiment through research of wing's profile, structure,force and air dynamic properties, and design of its control system.
