With the rapid development of Internet and Internet of things, the scale of optical transport networks is getting larger and larger, and the service types are also getting more and more. Large scale and dynamic are the requirement of future optical networks, and multi-layer and multi-region are the inevitable evolution trends. As a result, path computation becomes even more difficulty in large scale multi-layer and multi-domain networks, especially in multi-constraint scenarios. In the same time, in order to reduce the overall network cost and increase transmission rate, optical transport networks are evolving from opaque optical network to transparent optical network. But in transparent optical networks, physical impairments will accumulate along the path, which may degrade optical signal quality in long-haul transmission systems and make the data unrecognizable at the receiver. Therefore the above problems are investigated in depth. The main innovative contributions are listed as follows:Firstly, according to the standards of ASON/WSON/PCE/GMPLS, Dual Routing Engine (DRE) stack software is developed and the architecture is introduced in the article.Secondly, a novel multi-stack VM (Virtual Machine) setup experimental networks is proposed in the article which can effectively decrease experimental cost without infecting the simulation.Thirdly, basing on the DRE architecture and experimental platform, an impairment-aware backward recursive PCE-based computation algorithm (IA-BRPC) is proposed to address physical impairments constraint in multi-domain transparent optical networks. The performance of IA-BRPC has been simulated and compared with traditional BRPC algorithm using discrete event simulation tool OMNeT++. Numeric results show that IA-BRPC can achieve better performance with blocking probability than standard BRPC.
