Industrial explosives are also called civilian explosives,which are one of the main explosive materials. With low cost, simple manufacturing, application and reliability, industrial explosives are the basis of national economic construction industries and are widely used in mining, infrastructure construction, hydropower station construction, earthwork excavation, water conservancy, highway, railway construction and so on. Therefore, the control of industrial explosives production process is a particularly important problem, and how to produce stable, high-performance industrial explosives products is also very necessary and meaningful topic in the area of industrial explosives production. In this paper, emulsion explosives and powdery emulsion explosives (PEE) are mainly talked about. A kind of distributed control system is proposed based on the analysis of the production process and control needs. Furthermore, generalized predictive control algorithm is used in the production process of industrial explosives for the first time and is ultimately implement by programmable logic controller (PLC). The control effect is ideal shown by simulink in MATLAB. In this paper, the following studies are done:(1) In the analysis of each important process in powdery emulsion explosives and emulsion explosive production, the entire control objectives are confirmed.(2) Ultimately distributed control system is chosen as the control scheme based on the analysis of the control demand of the two production lines. The control structure diagram and the function of each part are given in this paper.(3) The hardware configuration and selection of the control system are exactly. The equipment used in the production of industrial explosives is in correct configuration according to the characteristics of industrial explosives and instrumentation characteristics, and the operating result verify this point.(4) The measuring points are rightly selected. The complexity of the industrial explosives production process demand us to select the measuring points based on the technology needs. Considering the factors of safety production, this control system adds some important measurement points, such as the emulsifier in the axial and radial vibration measuring point, which can effectively diagnose the vibration of emulsifier.(5) Oil and water phase flow adopt generalized predictive control. The oil and water flow phase control subsystem is modeled firstly and then, generalized predictive control method is proposed to control this phase to improve the control accuracy of oil and water phase flow and meet the process requirements ratio. The simulation results show that this control algorithm can effectively eliminate the overshoot, and the system can still be expected in case of outside interference.(6) Computer control system is successfully designed and implemented. Kingview 6.52 designed by Beijing Asia is chosen as the IPC configuration software. By this software operators could know about the operating status of equipment and the data of parameters in the field.
