| With the popularity of wireless local area network, maintenance and management of it is becoming increasingly important. In order to make the resources of the wireless local area network be more effectively used, report and handle it in time when the network fails and so on, it is very essential to design a network management system which can monitor and maintain the wireless network effectively.The project named"Research on generalization of IEEE 802.11a/b/g radio station"is a subitem of"ATC system of urban rail transit"which is a transformation of scientific and technological achievements in Jiangsu Province, and the subway's wireless communication system is taken as the applied research background. In the system, the communication between AP and STA is accomplished by wireless local area network. In this paper, a Web-based as well as SNMP-supported wireless local area network management system is designed to monitor and maintain the operation of the system effectively. The system's functions are as follows: discover the active devices, read and config the information of the devices, discover and display the topology as well as warn of certain faults in time.Firstly, for the active devices discovery, sending snmp packets to find the active devices is more efficient than sending ICMP packets based on ping because of no restrictions of firewall; Secondly, for the topology discovery, taking into account the topology between AP and STA changes so frequently in this system, it can make the STA report the topology between AP and STA to the management station initiatively when the STA associates with different AP by extending the trap mechanism of the SNMP agent in STA ; Thirdly, for the topology display, the hierarchical method is adopted to display the wired network and wireless network; Finally, the devices are read and configed by Struts framework and SNMP development interface.Test results show that the network topology of the subway's wireless communication system can be discovered duly and accurately and the topology can display hierarchically; it can provide users with the information of devices as well as configuration of them through an intuitive graphical interface; warnings of some faults can be reported to the administrator in the mode of graphic and alarm logs. |
