The Design And Implementation Of Radio And TV University's Remote Services Digital Library

Radio & TV University(TVU) is an institution of higher learning, which use of computer networks, satellite television and other modern media technology and use of text materials, audio-visual materials, multimedia courseware, Internet courses and other distance education media to conduct distance education. Clearly,The traditional library can not meet the needs of the distance education, it is a urgent need to set up digital library basic on existing information-transfer system and it's area system for TVU. And the Digital library can provide services for students and teacher in their respective regions on Internet, not limited in the school LAN like the other Colleges. The paper calls it "Remote Services Digital Library". It has put forward higher requirements in software, hardware, networking, development, and legal issues, for the construction.Zhejiang Radio & TV University Library careful analysis the urgent needs of the remote resource services for distance education, decided to create it's remote services digital library(Distance Learning Digital Library, DLDL), DLDL is the first comprehensive digital library for modern long-distance in China. For providing safe and efficient electricity remote services to university students across the province, on the hardware side, DLDL architect hardware firewall, use FC SAN storage systems, NAT conversion server's address, and build a standard server room; on the software side, install enterprise edition anti-virus software, build meta-data database suit features of TVU resources, create a resource integration approach to achieve the single sign-on; reader services, provided resources to a unified retrieval, reference platform, personalization features such as digital library . Three and a half years, DLDL operation log data amply demonstrated, DLDL model is suitable for Distance Education, it is a success.The paper will combine DLDL building, integrated computer science, library science, distance education, law and other fields of knowledge, analysis of Radio and TV remote service digital library design and implementation of the entire process.
