Texture technology has immerged in each aspect of the society as the developing of science.With the increasing of requirement,partially simulation of battlefield can not satisfy all users' requirements any more,It is important to establish the global virtual terrain system,the organization and pretreatment of the global multi-resolution photos is always one of the key works.The command's requirement of quality and speed of computer graphics is fast increasing,Texture mapping which can enhance the realistic while entailing only a relative small increase in computation had been noticeable.This paper makes researchs on the application of texture in the virtual battlefield environment ,we can see the main works of the paper as follows:(1) We learn the related theories from our country and abroad,In the base of pyramid model,this paper introduces the method of how to divide texture into layers and blocks.We design a effective method with OOP and make some discussion on the key techniques,such as the structure of file,texture compression and Mipmap.Using the projection and the geometric theories,this paper achieves the aim of changing images to right.(2) We study how to use texture technology to build special effects of battlefield,It makes a particular explain on the artifical fire using particle system.with the combination of texture mapping ,dynamic texture and color,some special effects,such as smoke,explosion,fly wakes,snowflake,rain are generated easily.This paper establish a management model of effects,we can manage all effects in the virtual environment efficiently.(3) Environment mapping and multi-texture technology are used to strengthen the fidelity and detail of floor,During recent years,bump mapping and 3D texture are the hotspots in researching the 3D Graphics,the paper analyses their basic principles and introduce their realizing steps.Some instances such as three demension cloudy are created using GPU in the end.The Realistic sky is rendering using double surrounding box model.
