With the development of the network technology, the computer network plays more and more important role. The backup and recovery are the last wreath that guarantees the information safety, having an important position in the whole information guarantee system. Improvement continuously with the information degree, many departments such as enterprises,governments,troops rely stronger and stronger on data information. If these data is broken out because of the manual and natural reason, it will make the worst effect. The backup technology has been used widely, on the survey of network-based backup and recovery, backup and compression for data recovery via network is one of the key technologies which carry on efficient storage and backup. The high-efficiency method of backup and data compression make sense on improving the efficiency of storage and backup.There are two main points of the research work in this paper. 1. Based on the comparison and analysis of currently different compression algorithms, aiming at concentrative storage characteristic of data backup, the examination of repeated data block from client to backup server, a new compression algorithm, Global Compression Algorithm is proposed. 2. A Network Backup System Based on Global Compression Algorithm combined compression methods with Network Backup technology is designed and implemented. The efficiency of Global Compression and Fast Recovery Algorithm is tested from the experiment. Network Backup data storage module for the realization of the direct traditional storage server and storage solutions for defects are optimized by using the self-file system approach to the storage of backup data, and provides management and external interface; data storage space management and data search proposed to optimize the program, and this proved that the program to improve data storage module efficiency.After the actual test run, the network backup system to meet the backup source and the backup server communication and more efficient data storage.
