The grid computing connects many geographically-distributed and heterogeneous resources(such as computing resources, storage resources, bandwidth resources, software resources, ete.) through high-speed network, to provide users with integrated information and application services and obtain the ability to solve complex problems. The main purpose of the grid is to integrate wide-area distributed resources and storage space, to reach the realm of sharing our resources. Grid can be applied in many areas, such as high-performance test computing, bio-informatics applications and Astrophysical Virtual Observatory.The data generated by high-performance scientific computing which is an important application area of the grid is mass. In the environment which needs such a large amount of data, the data set must produce a replica and spread over a wide area network sites, also it should meet the needs that researchers everywhere share the data. Therefore, among all the services of grid, the data transmission services is at a very important position, all the storage and computing needs transport service support. Grid environment requires a fast, safe, effective and reliable transport mechanism.Grid-based data transmission is an important part of the computing grid, it can effectively solve the problem that a variety of geographically dispersed dynamic resource on how to dynamically join or leave a different virtual organizations in the grid computing environment, on how to perform high-speed, secure remote data transmission and processing,as well as on how to make the grid program easy to use a variety of resources.In this paper, we deeply study the data transmission service in the grid environment from protocols and applications two aspects, design and implement a grid-based data transmission prototype system. Major works are as follows:1.Studied the grid, Web services technology, master Globus Toolkit architecture, function and usage, clear data transmission grid needs. Studied grid data transmission related theory, focused on the optimization of ata transfer methods under the grid environment. Implement the resource sharing and resource coordination across autonomous domain, effectively meet the requirements that Internet-oriented complex applications for large-scale computing power and huge data processing.2.Studied co-allocation framework based algorithms which are critical for improving the performance of grid data transmission, and proposed improvements to the traditional algorithm. In the environment of parallel transmitting, the new algorithm can make the transmission block size adjusted based on changes of the environment, making the overall transmission performance improved significantly. The new algorithm has been tested, experiment results proves that this algorithm can effectively improve the transmission performance.3. Analyze the shortcomings of traditional data transmission model, thus introduce and study the grid data transfer model. Under the backgroud of "data center platform, Zhejiang Province People's Congress" project, based on the grid data transmission model, we raised the design of overall framework of data transmission prototype system in the data center platform and the design and implementation of connection and transfer process under the framework. The prototype system designed in this paper has a positive significance for the future research and development for the project of "data center platform, Zhejiang Province People's Congress", provides refernces for cross-platform development.
