Near space is an important strategy area in the air and space integration war, its unique resources superiority has attract a lot of attention and focus by many Countries. It will be the keystone space domain of high technology development in the 21st century. Near space vehicle is a new generation of space vehicle which represents the future space vehicle's development trend. It greatly changes the conception and intention of space war, and has a subversive effect on the traditional warfare mode. With the breakthroughs and development of aircraft manufacturing technology, in the near future, the near space vehicle will occupy an important role in the space confrontation and national security. At the same time, the study on radar detection of near space target has become the hot issues by world powerful military country.The paper focued on the near space vehicle detection feasibility of radar system, and introduced the radar target characteristic of near space vehicle. The paper carried on simulation analysis of detection ability of single warning radar and combined network radars based STK, results show that the GBR's detection ability can't settle for the near space vehicle warning. Then, we discussed the design requirement of the SBR warning system and the SBR detection ability. And point out the complexity and attention in the SBR detection system design.Firstly, the paper summarized the near space vehicle's dynamics characteristic which different from traditional aircraft, and made analysis to the near space vehicle's structure and electromagnetic characteristic. Secondly, according to the principle of radar detection and radar monitoring equation, analysis the detection of ground based radar to near space vehicle in the different altitude and velocity, concluded the impact rule of the radar detection aibility by altitude and velocity. As the single ground based radar's detection ability is limited, we discussed different combination network model of the radar's detection. Thirdly, according to the monitoring radar equation, expatiated on the power-aperture product of SBR; The satellite orbit property of space based warning system is analyzed; the GEO and LEO's round coverage and global coverage procept were discussed; constellations and orbits coverage are carried out by simulation. Finally, we reviewed the content of the paper, and made recommendation and long-range prospect to the future research.
