Being one of the key technologies in Internet of Things, the application fields and system scale of RFID has been extended increasing these years along with the continuous development and improvement of the later. However, when applied in larger-scale distributed environment, RFID readers are characterized by large amount, decentralized deployment and large varieties, which decrease the reliability, scalability and maintenance of the whole systems and thus limit the application of RFID technology. Therefore, it is required that the readers in RFID system can be deployed quickly and adjusted flexibly, as well as be monitored, configured, analyzed and controlled effectively to improve the system performance. To this end, the study on the deployment and management technology of RFID reader has important application value and practical significance in the development of Internet of Thing and the popularization of RFID technologies.This thesis devotes to the in-depth study of the deployment and management issues of RFID readers. The main work is as follows:①The deployment of RFID readers is investigated. With the RFID system application requirements and scenarios, a network model for RFID readers is proposed. The model is composed by three layers, namely the logical control point layer, the logical reader layer and the physical reader layer.First, the logical reader is created according to application requirements and realize the mapping between the logical control point and the physical reader, in order to establish the relationship between the physical reader and application scenario and task.Second, for the reader, based on the model structure, using the depth first approach deploys the reader network and the reader is linked to the logical control point accordingly.②The interface for the network based management of the RFID reader is studied. In current researches, network based management of the RFID reader has not been standardized, and thus managers cannot get access to and configure the reader by a standard interface.first of all,this thesis studies the proper parameters for such management and defines the data types. Second,we propose a standard interface for the above parameters.③A proxy agent based model is proposed for the RFID reader. There is no build-in component in the reader for network based management and therefore it is hard to manage it directly. Based on the SNMP protocol, the proposed model solves this problem. The detailed structure and work flow of the model are given. Three key factors, namely protocol converter, MID library extension and registration of the reader, are examined with special attention. The model supports the network based management of the REID reader in the wide area network (WAN) without any modification in the SNMP system.A suite of RFID reader deployment and management system based on the above points has been deployed in a motorcycle manufacturing execution system. This system achieved the goal of rapid deployment, flexible adjustment and network based remote management which assures the reliable run of the whole motorcycle manufacturing execution system. This practical application proves the theoretical and application values of the researches in this thesis.
