Since Extensible Markup Language (XML) was released by World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in February 1998, it has gradually become the standard of data exchange and representation on internet. Especially, it has been employed in the Web data integration fields more and more broadly. In this paper, we have analyzed the XML Object Oriented (OO) data model and its applications in information security, especially in data access control. The work is listed as follows:Firstly, we selected a fitful data model for XML. Only with perfect data structure can the full potential of XML be exerted. As we can see, OO technology has become mature after decades' development. In practice, XML with OO data model can meet the demands from various applications. In this paper, we modified the semi-structured data representation in OEM, and defined the data representation based on the OO techniques. And then we simplified the object mapping rules in ODMG With help of the functions provided by OO development tool, we set down representation methods, data modeling algorithms and exchanging rules of XOOM model and established the novel OO model of XML. The data structure defined in this way can guarantee the capacities of data representation and efficiency of data exchange.Secondly, we dug into the semantic definitions of XML data access schema, and proposed the data access control scheme of partially encrypted documents. As we know the main applications of XML are in domain of representation, transfer and storage of web data. Therefore, the information security should be emphasized. We implemented the secure access control scheme in the access control module of NXD system. Finally, we concluded the paper with discussions of all the achievements and put forward some ideas for future work.
