| As the usage of internet explorer, digital resources enriched rapidly. Moreover, the Distance Learning has made it more and more popular. Many traditional resources now can be saved in their digital form. E-Learning, also known as Distance Learning, is the primary consumer and developer of the digital resources. If without effective protection of digital rights, the creator of the digital resources will be hurt. Unlike traditional resources, the digital resources can be copied and transmitted to a faraway distance in seconds. So, this brings out new challenge to the work of protections. Great jobs had done to protect the digital rights. However, most of them are mainly for payment based systems, and are based mainly on inter-trust. This is not enough. Also, the Education and Research fields have their own attributes, and hence their own demands. They even need a more complex system for digital right protection. The CELTS has made their great effort on the establishment of E-Learning standards. However, their work lack of protection of digital resources. Thus, there is a long way to go in the standardization's process. This is what we do and why we do. In our paper, we started with the status of the E-Learning industry, and promoted the requirements. Then we built a right expression model. In the end, we presented a Digital Contract based access control system. Then we evaluated this system. In this system, we used a Certificate Authority to provide the authentication of every party's identity information. Digital resources are put into a digital container which is tamper resistant. The user initiates his or her request and presents a Right Expression Language based digital contract. Then, the user's identity will be authenticated. The system also checks the digital contract's validity. At last, the envioronment information will be calculated to check if the condition is satisfied. If so, the access control service will be provided to the user. At the end of this paper, we also prove that this system satisfies the needs of digital right management. |
