The twenty-one century is information times.Printer will be more and more prevalent as terminal product of information.Thermal printer is a new thing in a variety of printers.And it will own abroad application foreground. Micro-thermal printer is a kind of high-tech product which involves machine technology and electronic technology. It was praised by user because of its small volume, low noises, high print quality, convenient, maintenance and so on. The market becomes more and more mature. And the future market is a large potential market. At present, Micro-thermal printer usually receive commands and data which come from computers or variety of electronic devices by the serial interface or parallel interface. But with the intelligentizing and informationize of printer industry, people expect more demand toward micro printer,such as network function. The project presented in the paper has been conduced in accordance with the new application requirement. It describes the design of a Micro-thermal printer based on Ehernet communication and some research on the key technics adopted in the design. The complete designing scheme of Micro-thermal printer comes out after a detailed analysis of the working principle. We compose a dual SCM system in the core of thermal printer head. The two controllers work cooperating with each other. One Single Chip Computer receives data from the master, the other make the printer head print in real time. According to the design scheme of the printer, we complete the chosen for the main components of the control board. And base on the chosen for the main components, we complete the design of the control board. The software adopts Germanic Keil company's Keil uVision2 software. It integrates compilation, building, emulator and debugging. The hardware adopts wave emulator of 51 series. We use the high efficient C to compile the system programme, improving the readability and transplantability. Characteristic of this article is associated with an innovative combination between Ethernet and teminal device. Result of this research provides a valuable reference for design of thermal printer and popularization of Ethernet.
