The development of Wireless Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) makes the new military wireless communication systems more active. The ability to be set up quickly and operate without wired infrastructure makes Ad hoc network a promising candidate for wide use in military communications.Based on the analysis of characteristics of military wireless communication,we study Landmark Ad hoc Routing and compare many routing protocols of Ad hoc Network with Landmark Ad hoc Routing. Landmark Ad hoc Routing combines the features of Fisheye State Routing (FSR) and Landmark routing, when network size grows, remote groups of nodes are"summarized"by the corresponding Landmarks. As a result, each node will maintain accurate routing information about immediate neighborhood; at the same time it will keep track of the routing directions to the Landmark nodes and thus, to remote groups. So it still provides an efficient and scalable routing solution in a mobile, Ad hoc environment. In the last, we verified and illustrated the performance of Landmark of Ad hoc routing through our simulation. The result showed that Landmark Ad hoc Routing is fit for large-scale Ad hoc wireless network.A simulating formwork of MANET is built on OPNET simulator. And the simulations done on this platform have proved the validity of Landmark routing protocol. And referenced algorithm, models and data are provided for the design of the real system.
