Three-dimensional reconstruction of medical images is one of the important domains of visualization in scientific computing. In this paper, we discuss the methods of 3d reconstruction and display of medical images. Development of direct volume renderings is introduced in this paper. This paper provides a microcomputer-based system for reconstructing 2D medical image to 3D image by surface- reconstruction method. The purpose is to establish a real time and lower price analysis and display system, which can play important role in clinical medicine.This paper investigates the reconstruction method on the level of sliceā€”the surface-reconstruction method based on contour line. And we expatiate two key algorithmic problems: medical image segmentation and the construction of triangulation. After the pretreatment of image, we adopt an improved algorithmic of edge-detection. The edge picked up is clear and integrate. Then we put forward to re-sampling the contour line, adopting the method of reducing contour points to construct triangulation. The painting speed has been improved obviously.Finally, based on the theoretic algorithmic and the research problem of craniofacial reconstruction, photographic superimposition and surgery planning, we constructed a system of 3D reconstruction and display of medical images. The system's function includes CT reconstruction, mutual function and the measurement, used the software development method as Object Oriented.The characteristic of this paper is combine the practice needs, develop an integrated 3D reconstruction system based on Windows operation system. The system realizes the realism Surface-reconstruction, some basic mutual function and the measurement. Besides, the algorithmic of 3d reconstruction we putted forward is very agility. By setting the parameter of reconstruction we can adjust the reconstruction's pace easily. It has an expansive appliance foreground.
