Liyuanchun, a local opera program broadcasted on Henan' s TV station, has attracted a large number of audience since it has been aired on TV for 12 years especially after it was revised in May, 1999. The opera program underwent three development stages, that is: recording, live broadcasting and mixture of live broadcasting and massive selection. The latter two forms have incorporated some new elements, changes have been made both in the program' s contents and forms. There are various reasons for the success of the program. As a communicator, it has abundant resources and well-established image. In content, the program follows the traditional opera art. In the meanwhile, it also proceeds along with reforms since modern media has been applied in the program. It has met the audience' s demands and the root-seated central China' s culture also provides the program plentiful resources. It is the above factors that have made the program a name brand.Of course, Liyuanchun is not a perfect program, its problems lie in the contradiction between its contents and communication functions. The content is too single, it lacks scripts for children and its over-emphasis on entertainment. The author tries to find out the way of Chinese traditional culture communication through analyzing the program. The author gives his views based on several aspects as of communicator, content, technology, audience, communication environment, culture communication theory and etc. Hopefully, the analysis could make some contributions on China's traditional culture communication.
