| The background of the work presented in this dissertation is the SUPANET (Single physical layer User-Platform (U-platfonn) Architecture NETwork) introduced by Sichuan Network Communication Key Laboratory (SC-Netcom Lab) to meet the needs of QoS for future merged networks. The SUPANET simplifies the user-data transfer platform (U-platform ) into a single physical layer, which can greatly improve efficiency as well as QoS provisioning for user data in the U-platform while remains interoperable with existing Internet. This dissertation focuses on Management-platform and network management protocol in SUPANET. An emphasis has been given to adaptation and extention of existing SNMP to the SUPANET environment. In SUPANET, separation of U-platform from S&M-platform can reduce the the U-Platform to a single-layer structure so as to raise the efficiency in user-data transmission and switching. However, multi-platform structure complicates organization of information distributed over different platforms and causes a need for information exchange. Having analyzed merits and shortcomings of SNMP and other network management protocols with regard to SUPANET environment, the author finally decided to use SNMP as basic protocol to manage the MEB in the M-platform in SUPANET.The SUPANet has the follow traits: simply layer structure in U- platform, high data transmission, and complex management in platforms. So many information of SUPANET needs manage efficaciously. In order to be compatible traditional network, Author puts forward expanding SNMP to manage traditional network and SUPANET.Finally, Author uses Visual C++ implement managing traditional network and SUPANET. |
