This thesis mainly deals with the embedded time synchronization design in LAN,which is based on the SNTP protocol and some other protocols associated with the design,such as TCP/IP and UDP. We have done research on the software toolkit and flow based onthe uClinux operating system. Details on the design of both hardware and software aregiven from the engineering aspect. Nowadays the computers' network and the modern communication system aredeveloping quickly, and especially the time synchronization technology in LAN is paidmore and more attention to. Moreover, the embedded equipments have been developingmore rapidly than ever and are fond by people because of its high performance, low price,specialization, stability and so on. At the present time, some analogous products inembedded time synchronization in LAN have existed in the market, while their developedtechnology, precision and price are different with each other. So the embedded timesynchronization design based on the S3C4510B microcontroller is put forward in this thesisto solve the problem about performance and price. The design can hold much higher timesynchronization precision and much bigger computers' network capacity.The character of the equipment is as follows:a) It introduces the Samsung's S3C4510B 16/32-bit RISC microcontroller, whichcan work in 50MHz clock frequency and process lots of datum fleetly;integratedethernet controller is particularly suitable for cost-sensitive and power-sensitiveapplications as soon as it joins by means of the ethernet physical layer single chiptransceiver such as RTL8201;b) It can supply precise time synchronization service for the massive computers'network, and the RJ-45 interface can run in 100/10Mbit per second.Research on application of time synchronization in LANc) It supports the uClinux operating system in which includes the TCP/IP protocol tosimplify the software programme.d) Low price, high performance and reliability, the software can run in other CPUafter some simple modification.When the equipment runs, UART receives the time information of the time source suchas GPS, BPM, B code, and supplies the clients and subnets in LAN with timesynchronization service through the RJ-45 interface. The design can deal with lots of realtime data when works at either 100Mbits or 10Mbits per second through the RJ-45 interfaceand provide accurate time service for over one hundred of clients.
