With the rapid development of communication networks in recent years, wireless monitor system based the GSM/GPRS becomes the most widespread application in the current long-distance wireless monitoring fields. In the other hand, the multi-CPU monitoring system, which is connected by single-chipped computer and PC machine through serial interface is widely used in the fields of industry and data monitoring. The communication way of these systems is always cable modem, radio station and so on.But their inherent fault limits the fields in which these systems are used.The appearance of the wireless monitoring system combined with GSM/GPRS networks supply the gap of the systems based on other communication networks. Therefore, the article researches and produces the monitoring system which is through the Short Message Service based on GSM networks and combined with the wireless data-transfers of GPRS networks. This system solves the above problems and with characteristics of low-cost, upgradeable and easy-extended. It can meet the need of the private users as well as the small-scale users, so, there must be a brighter future for this system.Firstly, the dissertation introduces the background, the present situation and significance of the research. Then, the author presents the solution to the wireless monitor system based on GSM/GPRS in detail, which is combined with the characteristics of wireless monitoring system. It also gives details of the controller design using the design theory of embedded system. After the system design being finished, the author explains how to implement the hardware and software of the wireless monitoring system. The characters of the wireless monitoring system are as follows:1. Multiplex function. Application for data transmission, data acquiring and long-distance monitoring etc.2. Low cost. The cost of controller is lower than the wireless monitoring system based on other communication networks.3. Multiplicity for input and output. The system can be implemented via software module and hardware module based on the industrial field need.At the last chapter of this paper, the author gives some improvement thinks on these two platforms.
