With the development of computer technology and communication technology, the control systems are driven from the DCSs and DFCSs to the open embedded networked control systems. HMI is a typical embedded system with highly autonomous functions. It lies between the field intelligent nodes and the master nodes of the control systems, as the bridge for the information to interchange. The HMI has integrated the display unit, control unit and data storage unit, and it has functions of operation control, status monitor, data storage, report print and network communication, therefore it is widely used in textile, printing, pharmacy and water conservancy. The HMI of embedded networked control systems is taken as a concrete research object. A embedded HMI development platform is realized by the co-design method of software and hardware, with the ARM series embedded processor as the core of hardware platform and the embedded Linux operating system as the software platform. Firstly, the development process of networked control systems and the basic concept of the embedded systems are introduced. Then the architecture of ARM and the function and working principle of S3C2410, which is the hardware core of this system, are introduced. The emphasis of this thesis is the design and realization of HMI's each part, including the detailed design of hardware circuits and the design method of high speed digital circuits used in hardware circuit design and electromagnetic compatibility design of PCB. Finally, the building method of the embedded HMI software system platform based on Linux operating system is put forward, and the realization of the CAN bus communication based on Linux operating system in this system is analyzed. It is the aim of this project to explore the application of ARM-Linux platform in the industrial control fields. The end of this thesis is the summary of the whole thesis and the outlook of the next work for this system.
