As long as continuous increasing of the communication capacity of trunk line offiber cable, no matter in military affairs politics or in civil use, people rely more andmore on the optical network. Therefore more and more regards are paid onsurvivability of optical network. The need for the security of the optical network isincreasing more and more fast. So it woule be significant to ensure the securityworking of fiber cable and reduced the failure time of that.In this paper a completely automatic monitoring and detecting system of fiber cabledeveloped by us is introduced, which can detect the malfunction of fiber cable quicklyand precisely. It can realize non-break-off of communication operations and satisfyconsumer's requests of real-time and security, so as to increase the security andreliability of network communication. It's system structure is introduced here, and inthis paper the detailed hardware design of whole monitoring system is lised out, thatincludes system software dirver TCP/IP embedded design and embedded systemdesign. PC software development is introduced too, in which theie are some codesrelated with wavelet analyzing theory and application.During introduction of upgrading project of the whole monitoring system somedefects of that is analyzed and then through comparing different MCUs and differentembedded systems such as uClinux VxWorks and UCOS, the last scheme is drawnwhich is S3C44B0(MCU)+uClinux(embedded system)+application. A concurrentserver has been developed under that scheme and some r&d on USB has been donetoo. At the end of this paper the tested data of the whole monitoring system is givenand a conclusion is summarized. The result proves that the monitoring system is safereliable and efficient on protection of optical network.
